I am sure that the eagle-eyed Adwords fanatics will have spotted the updated functionality within Adwords today. Like Analytics, Adwords now allows you to compare the dates for easier analysis and evaluation.

The current options are previous period, so if you have the last 7 days selected, you will be able to compare to the seven days prior, and same period last year, allowing you to see how your performance is varying year on year. You can also set up customer comparison periods for closer scrutiny.

The comparative display comes in the form of the chart at the top of the page, giving a comparison between the selected metrics, such as clicks and conversions.

It’s good to see Adwords catching up in this comparison, but it would have been nicer to have seen the comparative data being displayed beyond the cart and within the actual campaign, ad group and keyword data itself, giving slightly more meaning comparative data.
