Google announces the UK launch of it’s own credit card for small and medium sized businesses to use to pay for their Adwords spend, following a successful trial in the states. The credit card is designed to allow small businesses to have extra credit to invest into their Adwords programme.

Google will be inviting UK businesses to apply for a Google Adwords credit card, with an APR of between 8.99% and 18.99% depending on credit worthiness. Currently applications are via invite only.

Our view: Having additional available funds available for your Adwords programme can be a good thing and the launch of the Google Business credit card should help businesses to do this. However, it is going to be important that UK advertisers control and manage their Adwords spend carefully. We regularly find that an important portion of budget is wasted on non-relevant keyword and clicks. With additional funds available, the trick is going to be making sure that you make each and every penny works hard for you rather than allowing even the smallest campaign wastage to grow with a growing budget.
